TCG Card Scanner – Price Value (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent developer creating this unofficial Pokémon card scanning application for iOS, published by AZTTY LLC. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and your choices regarding your data.

This app is unofficial and is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or specifically approved by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK Inc., or any of their affiliates. Pokémon and all related characters, names, images, logos, and other content are trademarks or registered trademarks of Nintendo, Creatures Inc., and GAME FREAK Inc.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the app’s core features.

Information You Provide Directly:

  • Email address — When you choose to create an account to save and sync your card collection across devices via cloud storage.
  • Card collection data — Details about the Pokémon cards you add (e.g., card names, sets, conditions, quantities, estimated values). This is stored in association with your account.

Information Collected via Device Permissions:

  • Camera access — To allow you to scan Pokémon cards using your device’s camera. Images or videos captured during the scanning process are processed in real time using OpenAI’s Vision API and are immediately discarded after processing. We do not store, save, upload, or retain any photos, videos, or image files from your device.

Automatically Collected Information:

  • Basic technical data necessary for app operation and cloud sync (e.g., device type, iOS version, app version). This does not include advertising identifiers or data used for tracking.

We do not collect:

  • Name, phone number, address, or any other contact information beyond email
  • Location data
  • Payment information (the app has no subscriptions, in-app purchases for core features, or ads)
  • Photos, videos, or any media files beyond real-time scanning
  • Any data for advertising, marketing, analytics beyond basic crash reporting (if implemented minimally), or third-party tracking

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely to provide and improve the app’s functionality:

  • Email address and account credentials → To create and authenticate your account, enable cloud sync of your card collection, and (if you opt in) send important service notifications (e.g., account recovery).
  • Card collection data → To store, display, and sync your personal collection across your devices when signed in.
  • Camera input → For real-time card recognition and price/value lookup via OpenAI’s Vision API. Images are processed transiently and deleted immediately after use.
  • Technical data → To ensure app stability, debug issues, and maintain compatibility.

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the app’s core scanning and collection features.

3. Sharing of Information

We share your information only in these limited cases:

  • OpenAI — When you scan a card, the captured image is sent to OpenAI’s servers (via their Vision API) for real-time image analysis to identify the card. OpenAI processes the image according to their own privacy policy (available at https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy). We do not send any other personal data (e.g., your email, account ID, or collection details) with the image. The image is not retained by us after processing.

We do not share your email address, card collection data, or any other personal information with any other third parties. There are no advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or other third-party tracking tools integrated into the app.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or to comply with valid legal processes.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • Your email (hashed where appropriate) and card collection data are stored securely in our cloud database to enable sync.
  • We use industry-standard security measures (encryption in transit and at rest) to protect your data.
  • Scanned images are never stored on our servers or your device after processing.

5. Data Retention

  • We retain your account data (email and collection) only while your account is active.
  • If you delete your account (via the app or by contacting support), we will delete your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except for any data we are legally required to retain.

6. Your Rights and Choices

  • You can access, update, or delete your account data at any time within the app.
  • You may delete your account entirely, which removes your collection from our cloud storage.
  • You can revoke camera permission at any time in your iOS Settings → Privacy → Camera.
  • To request access, correction, deletion, or other rights regarding your data, contact us at the email below.

Depending on your location (including EEA/GDPR or California/CCPA rights), you may have additional rights under applicable laws. We will respond to valid requests in accordance with those laws.

7. Children’s Privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. We will post the revised version here with an updated effective date. For significant changes, we may provide in-app notice.
